Tidbits from my writing workbook

I have now written 50 pages in my writing workbook I am using for my class. To see if any of it was useful or relevant to my writing, I went through with a highlighter to mark anything that was a thought I might want to go back to.In these first 50 pages I have:- Written or started three prose poems (I don't normally write much poetry, though I have in the past).- Written one stupid joke- Mentioned story ideas I have had or stories I have started (three, which I will tentatively call here: The Jewel-Swallower, For the Love of Trees, and hmm, something about a crazy blues musician).- Mentioned stories I have completed at least one complete draft of: Good Kitty, The True Story of How I Became Real, Mists On Eryri (collaboration with a friend), Suicide Notes, Flying Away, something about a cat from another planet (I can't recall the title). There may be others I am forgetting.- Mentioned two non-fiction articles I have had published in Classical Singer magazine and a story idea I would like to pitch to them about exercising for singers.- Written a few pages of names in my novel with phonetic transcriptions in International Phonetic Alphabet, considering revising a few names and changing the spelling of others to make it more obvious how to pronounce them.- Divided my novel into six books of about 80 - 110 pages each, deciding where the appropriate section breaks would fall.- Made notes about a few agents I would like to contact about my novel once I am at that stage.- Written a first draft of a few pages of a play I have been tossing around in my head for years about three characters from different operas who meet each other.- Made a list (incomplete) of recent professional accomplishments I would like to include in my faculty evaluation due this fall. And the rest is mostly rambling and blather, with a few random observations, such as: Why do I write? I write because I want to remember. So this writing for 30 minutes a day has certainly paid off to an extent. I would like to be more focused when I sit down to write so there is more pertinent stuff and less blather, but hey, I've only been doing this for two weeks now.I have also completed (ha! When is editing ever complete) an edit on the first book (about 1/6) of my novel and am moving on to the next section. I hope I am improving things as I go.I stayed home this morning with a sore throat and headache which is somewhat better after a couple cups of throat coat tea.
