Back from North Carolina

I got back yesterday evening from my trip to NC for my sister's wedding. Everything was wonderful and it was a lovely occasion for the families. I sang my Bach aria, accompanied by the groom's brother. I'm used to singing in weddings - it is part of how I make my living - so usually I am able to be pretty detached. I wasn't prepared for getting a little choked up when I saw her walk in. However, I got a grip on myself and let the music take over. The reception was a contra dance, because the couple met while contra dancing. I danced pretty much non-stop. Then, the couple and both sides of the family went to the Outer Banks for a week in a beach house. Much fun was had by all and lots of delicious food. I knew I really liked my new brother-in-law and was very happy about the marriage, but the bonus was that his whole family are wonderful people whom I really enjoyed spending time with. They're all very musical and we sang a lot!My new Prius should get in within the next week. My loaner car, a Yaris, served me fine for the trip.Well, that is the short version of the trip. I'm behind on work for the lecture I'm giving at TNEO, so I better get cracking. When/if I get time, I want to write posts with the following titles:- In praise of West Virginia- They sing at the dinner table- Waltzing in place- The saga of the loaner car and its flying key
