Grey Fantasy

I don't have time to write very much about this now, but I was thinking about categories of fantasy, inspired by a discussion started by sartorias here.I resist the term "high fantasy" for my novel because I don't think it is, and nothing else I write really would fall under that heading at all. I don't write "dark fantasy" because I don't have a particularly dark world view. I don't write "urban fantasy." though one unfinished work takes place in a modern-day town, it is modeled after Hot Springs, Arkansas. Hardly an urban center. I occasionally write "historical fantasy," for instance, a novelette set in the Indiana territory in 1805.I think I could call what I write "grey fantasy," because it differs from high fantasy in that I revel in the grey areas, not the absolutes of good and evil. It isn't nearly dark enough to be dark fantasy. I will attempt to explain more about this later when I am not about to rush off to sing.
