Enchanted and other tidbits
Stephan and I saw Enchanted on Sunday. My expectations were somewhat low as I've been disappointed in many recent Disney movies, but I was entertained throughout and would definitely recommend it. They got a lot of mileage out of the juxtaposition between the animated fairy-tale world and the real world of New York City, making for lots of laughs. I especially enjoyed the quotes from Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and other classic Disney films. Though the ending was predictable, it was satisfying and I have no major plot quibbles.I got groceries on Sunday and decided to pick up a package of chocolate cookie dough to have a few fresh-baked cookies for our Christmas tree decorating tomorrow with minimal effort on my part. Stephan put away most of the groceries, and I later realized I wasn't sure if the dough was supposed to be refrigerated or frozen. "Where did you put the cookie dough?" I asked. "Cookie dough?" He looked incredulous. "That's what it was? I already ate two. They were good." I found the bag of dough (already shaped into little nuggets for baking in the pantry. I think I laughed about this all day. Of course, he can't read the small print without his glasses. Though he tried to convince me to try one without baking it, I declined, because I can't stand raw cookie dough! Ewwwww. Cookie dough ice cream was a terrible invention in my opinion. We're on our second CO2 canister for our Soda Club seltzer maker. I'm thrilled to be able to make this at home in reusable bottles. We're both seltzer addicts. I don't like to spend money for bottled water when the tap water is perfectly good once you run it through a filter to get all the yuck (good old Indiana limestone) out. But I used to get 12-14 bottles of seltzer per week. Not any more, as I can just fill the bottle with filtered tap water, screw it into the machine, and push the button on top until it makes a few rude noises, and I've got a bottle of seltzer!I'm having the new and (hopefully) improved chapter 1 of my novel critiqued at the Off-track Bookies meeting today. It's about time I got back into the rewrite.
