Drive-by post

Whew! Finished the first round of critiques for TNEO (finally!)Athena is back with clean teeth but had no obvious dental problems, so we still don't know for sure what the eating problem is. She's acting pretty spunky and thanks to appetite stimulant pills and some special high-calorie food which she loves, is eating pretty well. I'm still not crazy about going off to Hawaii and leaving her for 10 days, but E. is going to monitor her closely, take her to work at her Vet clinic if she needs to check up on her more, and is authorized to take her to her usual vet if needed and they will put it on my tab.Everybody loves Athena at the Vet clinic. She's got quite a personality and is not shy about complaining, or demanding attention. They all wanted to pet her. I'm glad it's obvious what a special cat she is. :)I'm behind in my third submission for TNEO, but I really wanted to make getting the first round crits done a priority before I head to Hawaii. I'll be taking the second round material to read on the plane.I got done with my high school kids in the music magnet program today when they sang for their juries: an exam where they have to have three pieces memorized and ready to sing and be graded by the faculty. Now I've got a bazillion things to do between now and leaving for Hawaii, including packing, spending lots of time with a cranky old cat, and maybe trying to write a bit. I thought up a new sf short story idea today involving the tension between personal freedom and government control of behavior with a new twist, and had a few moments during lunch break to jot some thoughts. None of that till I get this darn next novel excerpt cranked out, though! That's all folks!
