For my summer vacation, I went to Mordor.
Actually, the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is much nicer than Mordor, but some landscapes are strangely reminiscent of locations in the book, particularly hiking across a crater floor of black rock with a few vents of steam.here's something striking about visiting geological features that are younger than yourself. And nothing beats watching lava flow into the ocean, in drips, explosions, and showers. It's new land being created right before your eyes, like going back in time to the creation of the world.
