Writing update (a day late) and iPhone

Ok, so I didn't post my writing update yesterday as originally scheduled. But I have a good excuse! Stephan got me an iphone for my birthday and I've had way too much fun playing with it and deciding what applications I really can't live without. I've used a Palm PDA for years, and the thing I like about the iphone is that it can do pretty much what my Palm did in addition to being a phone. I'd like to be able to use spreadsheets and word processing files on it, and have a better system for keeping track of notes and ideas than the iphone's built-in notes function. To solve the first issue, I may just wait until Documents to Go comes out for iphone, as it is supposed to do "soon." For the second issue, I'm looking at a variety of free and paid options. Now for the writing update. I finished a draft of my opera libretto, "Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater," which will be about 10 minutes long with music. I've worked some more on composition. I took a semester of composition as an undergrad and I think I got a B. I'm quite rusty. But one reason I never can seem to finish anything I start is I've never had a deadline for composing something before. Now that I do, even if the music isn't great, it will get done.ETA: I suppose this post doesn't really convey my enthusiasm for the iphone. So I'll just note that it has scarcely left my hand since Stephan gave it to me on Friday. I want to get a cool little case to dress it up and protect it and love it and pet it and...wait, it is just a phone, after all. Well, phone, internet browser, multimedia viewer, game player (I love the free sudoku), camera...you get the idea.
