Writing Update

I worked for a while today on a short story I'm calling "Courting the Witch," previously known as "The Witch's Cat." I sometimes like to use unlikeable protagonists, or anti-heroes, which is definitely the case in this story. I know how I want it to end, I'm just missing a couple small steps in the middle. But I'm pretty happy with how uncluttered the plot is so far. I'm so much a novelist at heart that it's really taking me a while to learn how to plot small.I'm working on short stories for TNEO this year, because I came into Odyssey unable to write anything short that didn't read like part of a novel, and I've been working to rectify this ever since. Yeah, and it's also an excuse to procrastinate the novel revision. But I'd like to at least get a few short stories out there in the market, and I'm terrible at finishing them to my satisfaction, so I end up not sending them out. Hopefully the smart folks at TNEO will help me decide what needs fixing and I will bang them into shape.I also went through my writing files and made notes of what stages of writing or revision some of my unfinished stories or story ideas are. I've got a couple sketches that might turn into flash pieces and one untitled story I have no idea where to take. That, and a novelette that still needs revision in addition to the novel, and a handful of other short stories that I'm not entirely satisfied with. This summer, I really need to prioritize all these writing tasks and be more goal-oriented.In other news, my knees are much better, though still not enough I can get back into any of my usual exercise routines. Bending my knees beyond a 90 degree angle is still very uncomfortable, walking and going up and down stairs is only a little bit uncomfortable.
