In which my subconscious ain't too bright

A few days ago, I posted here about an instance in a dream in which my subconscious was aware of things I had nearly forgotten. Well, the reverse was true last night.In my dream, I was in a hotel room being searched by the police. They were being polite about it, but it was obvious they expected to find something. I wasn't too worried because I knew I had nothing to hide. For some reason I had lots of stuff in the hotel room with me like photo albums, boxes of canceled checks, etc., and it was taking some time because they were determined to go through everything. I thought through all the stuff I had and tried to imagine if any of my financial records would look shady, and then decided again that I had nothing to incriminate me in any way. So I calmly watched them search, confident I'd be proven right. Though I was a bit annoyed at having them go through my stuff, at least they weren't throwing stuff around the room.When I woke up, I thought to myself, "Stupid subconscious! If they were that confident they'd find something, they were either going to plant evidence to pin on you, or perhaps they would find something left by a previous hotel guest but charge you with possession of whatever it was. You shouldn't have been sitting their calmly, you should have been hiring a good lawyer!"
