Novel almost done!

I just finished a draft of the next to the last chapter of my novel. It needs a few fixes, and I'm curious what my writer's group says about balance of scene vs. summary. I've told about some rather important things in summary, but then, I am trying to wind down to the end after all. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to write one part of this, but I did it! Then I plugged in (with a few edits) a section I had written a year ago, and voila, I had a chapter! The best part is, the last chapter and short epilogue are already done. I wrote them over a year ago and just reread, and it still works for the most part, though I will have to do some tweaking.Whew! Feels great! I know I've got lots of edits and things to fix and hope I remember all of them. I have a Word file where I keep track of thoughts and also a collection of post-its.I still can't read the end of my novel without getting a little teary-eyed. I know this is due in a large part to the fact that I am very attached to my characters and my story, but I hope that the novel will involve the reader emotionally enough that I won't be the only one reacting that way. We shall see.I was afraid I'd miss this month's deadline due to all the opera rehearsals (we open Friday), but I promised myself I would close myself up and write today and fortunately I got some decent work done. I will take the draft to tech rehearsal tomorrow night and do some edits so I can send it off to the group on Tuesday, the deadline to have it reviewed at the October meeting. This feels great!
