Writing and opera
My Dryad story is now at 3,360 words and I am calling it For the Love of Trees at least for now. I think I know how I want to wrap it up, but not sure how I'm going to get there. I have a feeling it will get too long and then I will have to decide: what is the story really about and cut out any subplots not relevant to this. That is why I think I am more of a novelist than a short story writer - I can't think up a plot without thinking of half a dozen subplots or other angles. *sigh* Now I need to decide how the protagonist makes a very startling revelation and what happens because of it. I can't imagine this story will end well for most of those involved. In other news, I am so busy with opera rehearsals that I was lucky to be able to grab a bit of writing time at all in between teaching today! It is back to the set of Turandot tonight after my evening students, and I am looking forward to it! We worked on the set for the first time last night and it looks pretty incredible. Tomorrow we will be in costume.
