I sold a story! Then I woke up...
I've had writing related dreams before. But last night was the first time I recall I dreamed in great detail that I had sold a story. I was somewhere where I had the opportunity to meet personally with an editor, who loved my story, though he found a sentence he thought was awkward and wanted changed. Interestingly enough, I believe the magazine was supposed to be Analog, and the story was definitely not sf. Good thing dreams don't have to make sense. I was so excited and couldn't wait to tell all my writing friends! When I've had writing dreams before, sometimes I've had what I think is a brilliant story idea, only to wake up and find it was a stupid idea or only an interesting image rather than a whole story idea. I still remember the time I dreamed that I was my hero, Aldric, defending the heroine, Salisa from some bats, and I woke up thinking, yay! I can dream in a male point of view! But I digress. The story idea from my dream last night is something I can maybe work with, though I wish it came fully formed with a whiz-bang ending. Oh well, I guess I can't let my subconscious do all the hard work for me. Watch this space to see if I ever manage to write about a . . . were-mouse?
