Composing and singing update
I can't seem to get around to posting updates on Sunday as originally planned. I'm still composing instead of writing because that has an approaching deadline. I've now got all of scene 1, scene 2, and most of scene 3 completed, for my part, which is writing the vocal lines and throwing in a few suggested chords or accompaniment ideas. Then I send it off to Meredith, who works the real composition magic. I hope to get scene 3 finished up today and scene 4, which is relatively short, in the next couple of days.Last night, I sang in a Bach concert at Christ Church Cathedral, in which I performed the soprano solos (an aria and duet with countertenor) in Cantata #93. My throat is still sore and I'm having some sniffles, but nothing that significantly impacted my performance. I'm never 100% satisfied, but I think that all things considered, I gave a pretty decent performance. The other soloists were fabulous and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra really outdid themselves in Cantata #33, which features the orchestra more than the singers in some florid passages in the first movement.Freya is a live wire today. I keep having to either cuddle her or throw her and her various toys off of my desk so I can get any work done. She's a little purring machine. She's chewed on my necklace, the corners of papers on my desk, and made a leap for a dangly earring. Not a good idea! I may have to throw her out of my study at some point to be able to get any more work done. But she's so cute!
